Position Title: Construction Manager Representing the Agency
Location: Boardwalk Loop Trail near Hopkins, SC in the Congaree National Park
Period Of Performance: 600 calendar days. Begin part-time (September 2024); then go to full-time (October 2024 to June 2026) then back to part-time (July 2026)
Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 annually based on experience
Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Management Representative for an exciting opportunity supporting the National Parks Service at the Boardwalk Loop Trail near Hopkins, SC. We are always looking for hard working professionals to join our diverse workforce and gain experience on a large variety of projects.
Project/Position Overview:
This project will remove and replace the elevated and low floodplain boardwalk behind the Visitor Center. The boardwalk is within Wilderness boundaries and all work will comply with the Wilderness Act. The existing wooden boardwalk will be removed and replaced with more substantial material. New boardwalks will meet Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards (ABAAS).
This role is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
- Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
- Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
- Ability to review and understand the contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
- Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance
- Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
- Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO.
- Review and process Construction Contractor's RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Education leading to or equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management Degree or similar degree preferred.
- Construction practices including minimum three years' experience in similar construction projects.
- Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required.
- Knowledge in construction practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations, cost breakdown estimating and negotiating, and technical writing.
- Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor, materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications.
- The ability to understand and document negotiations between the Government and the Construction Contractor for the technical scope requirements, prime and subcontractor labor, equipment, material, overhead and profit
- Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and any other software for the project
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Qualified applicant must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to walk or climb on a daily basis to observe contract performance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
