Project Specialist
Help Bring Important Projects to Life!
Location: Rapid City, South Dakota
Employment Type: Full-Time
Are you someone who enjoys keeping projects moving, solving problems, bringing people together, and making sure the details don’t fall through the cracks?
If so, Project Solutions, Inc. (PSI) may be the place for you.
We are looking for a Project Specialist to join our team in Rapid City and support a variety of exciting DoD, federal government, construction, engineering, infrastructure, and environmental projects. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers, engineers, construction professionals, environmental specialists, contractors, and clients to help turn project plans into successful outcomes.
This is more than a paperwork role. You will be part of the action - helping coordinate people, information, schedules, and resources to keep projects moving forward.
What You'll Be Doing
Every project is different, so you will have the opportunity to take on a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Partner with Project Managers and project teams to support projects from planning and design through construction and closeout
- Keep projects organized by tracking schedules, milestones, deliverables, action items, and important deadlines
- Work with clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and government stakeholders to keep communication flowing
- Help prepare project status reports, presentations, meeting materials, correspondence, and other project deliverables
- Coordinate project meetings, capture key decisions and action items, and help make sure follow-ups happen
- Track RFIs, submittals, change requests, deliverables, and other project documentation
- Assist with monitoring project budgets, invoices, commitments, and other project financial information
- Maintain accurate and well-organized project files and records
- Help Project Managers identify potential schedule, coordination, or documentation issues before they become bigger problems
- Gather information, analyze project data, and help turn it into useful reports and updates
- Support project closeout and make sure the right documentation and deliverables are in place
- Assist with proposals and other business development initiatives when needed
- Look for smarter, more efficient ways to organize information and support project delivery
The Projects You'll Help Support
At PSI, you could find yourself supporting projects involving:
- Construction & Infrastructure – facility improvements, rehabilitation, construction management, and infrastructure projects
- Federal & DoD Projects – projects supporting federal agencies, military installations, and critical government facilities
- Engineering Projects – working alongside engineering and technical teams to coordinate project activities and deliverables
- Environmental Projects – supporting environmental compliance, remediation, and related technical projects
The variety means there's always something new to learn and no two days have to look exactly the same.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
We are looking for someone who is organized, curious, proactive, and enjoys being the person who keeps things moving.
You should have:
- A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
- 02+ years of experience in project coordination, project administration, construction, engineering, environmental services, government contracting, or a related field
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A sharp eye for detail and a knack for keeping information organized
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities without losing sight of deadlines
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- The confidence to work independently and the teamwork skills to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals
- A problem-solving mindset and the willingness to jump in and help wherever needed.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience working on DoD or federal government projects
- Construction, engineering, environmental, or infrastructure experience
- Familiarity with government contracting or federal project requirements
- Experience with project management, scheduling, document control, or cost-control systems
- CAPM, PMP, or another project management certification
