Electrical Inspector
Location: Irvine, CA

Position Overview:
Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an Electrical Inspector to support a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Construction Management and Construction Inspection (CM/CI) task order at the FDA Pacific Southwest Laboratory & District Office in Irvine, CA. The project involves replacement of an end-of-life laboratory vacuum pump system and correction of exhaust by directly ducting three Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) isolators to the outside via a new exhaust fan. This role provides electrical inspection coverage for control panel installation, BAS integration, and power feed and disconnect work.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Inspect new control panel installation, including placement, labeling, and integration with existing Building Automation System (BAS).
- Verify power feed connections to the new vacuum system utilize the existing power feed as required.
- Witness BAS integration testing and alarm verification (local panel alarms and BAS alarms).
- Inspect disconnect means and isolation valves for each vacuum pump.
- Initiate and maintain documentation of deficiencies identified during electrical inspection activities, including photographs, descriptions, dates, responsible party identification, and required corrective action.
- Track corrective actions and verify closure of electrical deficiencies prior to recommending acceptance.
- Support punch list development and punch list closure verification for electrical scope.
- Observe and document site safety practices during all onsite coverage periods; report hazards and noncompliance to the Government — same business day for significant issues; immediately for imminent danger.
- Coordinate with the Construction Manager / Resident Engineer and Commissioning Engineer on electrical system verification activities.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
Education/Certification:- ICC or NICET certification in electrical inspection.
- Ability to obtain HSPD-12 badging for unescorted facility access (badging process is approximately 30 days and must be completed prior to start of on-site construction activities).
- BAS/controls integration experience preferred.
- Experience inspecting control panel installation, including placement, labeling, and integration with Building Automation Systems.
- Experience witnessing BAS integration testing and alarm verification.
- Experience inspecting power feed connections, disconnect means, and isolation valves.
- Experience maintaining deficiency documentation and tracking corrective actions through closure.
- Federal facility experience preferred.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards including the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), OSHA 29 CFR 1926, and UL, ANSI, and IEEE standards as applicable to the scope.
- Ability to pass FDA facility access and security requirements.
- Ability to be on-site at the FDA Pacific Southwest Laboratory
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with Construction Manager / Resident Engineer and Commissioning Engineer on electrical system verification activities.
