Position/Project Overview: 

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking a Biomedical Project Manager to provide fprovide professional project management and technical biomedical expertise to plan, procure, coordinate, implement, activate, transition, and close biomedical equipment and clinical technology projects for the Indian Health Service (IHS), Albuquerque Area Office. The role supports the safe, reliable, effective, compatible, and economical use of patient-care technology throughout the Albuquerque Area

This role is contingent upon award of project.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and coordinate assigned biomedical projects and clinical technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with established project objectives, priorities, schedules, funding constraints, and Government requirements
  • Collaborate with clinical users, biomedical engineering, IT, facilities, safety, infection control, Tribal representatives, consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, priorities, responsibilities, and implementation constraints
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, Statements of Work, technical requirements, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, implementation plans, risk registers, decision logs, and action-item tracking
  • Plan and coordinate biomedical, diagnostic imaging, dental, and other clinical equipment projects throughout programming, acquisition support, implementation, activation, maintenance transition, warranty, and closeout
  • Evaluate equipment and vendor recommendations for clinical suitability, safety, standardization, interoperability, cybersecurity considerations, maintainability, life-cycle cost, warranty coverage, parts availability, and long-term technical support
  • Coordinate vendor planning, site preparation, equipment delivery, installation, utility and network connections, configuration, testing, calibration, training, and activation schedules
  • Conduct or support site observations and technical inspections, documenting installation progress, quality, safety concerns, deficiencies, and compliance with approved requirements, manufacturer instructions, and applicable codes and standards
  • Coordinate equipment life-cycle and maintenance-transition activities, including inventory and CMMS records, preventive-maintenance requirements, inspection and calibration intervals, warranties, service responsibilities, technical documentation, and user/maintainer training
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and closeout records, track outstanding deficiencies and warranty items, and prepare status reports, inspection reports, technical analyses, recommendations, lessons learned, and closeout summaries

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited professional engineering curriculum, OR another accredited degree directly applicable to biomedical engineering, clinical engineering, healthcare technology, or biomedical project management

​​Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing or coordinating biomedical, clinical equipment, healthcare technology, hospital, health center, clinic, or comparable complex institutional projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects across the full lifecycle, including planning, acquisition support, technical development, implementation, installation, testing, commissioning or acceptance readiness, activation, maintenance transition, warranty, and closeout
  • Experience controlling and managing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and documentation
  • Demonstrated technical experience with biomedical or clinical equipment, including equipment evaluation and specification, installation requirements, inspection and testing, calibration concepts, preventive-maintenance planning, troubleshooting, safety, and service support
  • Working knowledge of biomedical engineering and clinical technology principles, including medical device operation, electronics and electromechanical systems, technical drawings and manuals, and test and measurement concepts
  • Working knowledge of the interfaces between biomedical equipment and facility or information-technology infrastructure
  • Knowledge of biomedical equipment life-cycle management, including clinical suitability, standardization, interoperability, cybersecurity considerations, CMMS and inventory records, safety, preventive maintenance, calibration, warranty and service support, recalls, and replacement planning
  • Working knowledge of healthcare operations and applicable life-safety, accessibility, infection-control, radiation-safety, electrical-safety, technical, regulatory, and accreditation requirements relevant to biomedical equipment projects
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders and prepare clear scopes, technical requirements, cost estimates, schedules, project records, status reports, technical recommendations, and closeout documentation

  • Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, quality, dependencies, and documentation
  • Solid knowledge of biomedical engineering and clinical technology principles, including medical device operations, electronics, electromechanical systems, technical drawings, manuals, and test and measurement concepts
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders, including clinical users, biomedical engineering, IT, facilities, safety, infection control, consultants, vendors, and other project participants
  • Knowledge of biomedical equipment life-cycle management, including equipment standardization, interoperability, cybersecurity considerations, CMMS/inventory records, preventive maintenance, calibration, warranties, recalls, and replacement planning
  • Strong technical evaluation and problem-solving capabilities related to biomedical/clinical equipment, installation requirements, testing, troubleshooting, safety, and service support
  • Working knowledge of healthcare operations and applicable requirements, including life safety, accessibility, infection control, radiation safety, electrical safety, technical, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
  • Ability to prepare clear technical and project documentation, including scopes, technical requirements, cost estimates, schedules, project records, status reports, technical recommendations, and closeout documentation
  • Ability to assess biomedical equipment for clinical suitability, patient and operator safety, compatibility, interoperability, maintainability, life-cycle cost, and long-term technical support
  • Ability to maintain complete, accurate, current, and auditable project records and provide clear technical recommendations within the assigned scope of authority
