Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 annually based on experience

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager for an exciting opportunity at our headquarters in Rapid City, SD.  We are always looking for hard working professionals to join our diverse workforce and gain experience on a large variety of projects.

Job Summary

The Project Manager will provide exceptional customer service to our internal and external customers by coordinating all activities associated within the Engineering division. This will include all activities related to effectively managing the daily priorities of the department as well as overall project management responsibility from pre-bid to project closeout.

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct the day-to-day activities for the engineering team members.
  • Manage key projects which includes planning, scheduling, and controlling activities to fulfill identified deliverables.
  • Provide the leadership to coordinate the efforts of the team and to make decisions to successfully complete projects on time, within scope, managing sub-contractors, schedules, costs, margins and customer expectations to satisfy project requirements.
  • Able to perform general engineering calculations including structural, HVAC and electrical.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of small to complex projects.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation of key project decisions and customer/project requests/revisions.
  • Provide timely and formal written communication throughout projects and disseminate all critical information to executive leadership, contract officers, and staff.
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to CEO that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project.
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
  • Conduct start-up meetings, document preparation with required parties or new hires, develop and resolve open issues/punch list, and complete project close out documentation.
  • Assist in establishing costs and producing professional, accurate quotations that protect the profit margin.
  • Research, cultivate, and assist in securing new projects for the division.
  • Ensure engineering team activity is customer focused, results orientated, performance driven and in compliance with all applicable internal and external requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate logistics for field personnel.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Drive the technical aspects of all projects including establishing data points needed for measuring success, reading/writing technical specs, and estimating time and resources needed for project completion.
  • Ability to integrate frequent changes in scope into project planning.
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and conduct field verifications.
  • Very good project estimation and budget management skills.
  • Must be able to analyze and problem solve, even with significant ambiguity.
  • Understanding of schedule analysis to identify risks to project critical path
  • Understanding of cost review and analysis for changes in project scope.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong skill set working with teams of varying degrees of experience/competency.
  • Lead Project Solutions staff towards flawless execution of projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be aware of all active engineering projects (present and under consideration) within the company and be able to document all objectives, line out action items and communicate clearly to all team members within Project Solutions.
  • Ability to resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Schedule and prepare meetings with respective stakeholders, ensuring that projects happen on-time.
  • Ability to interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and representing them in the field.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Structural or Civil Engineering is required; MBA preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in a technical fast paced environment working with Engineers or within the general contracting or construction management industries.
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Project and knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadline expectations.
  • Team player who thrives on collaborating with others to produce proposals.
  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
  • Excellent technical aptitude, analytical and detail oriented.
  • Adherence to Contract management protocols.
  • PMP/PMI Certification preferred
  • OSHA 30 preferred.

Work Environment:
This position operates onsite in Rapid City, SD in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, flexible scheduling options. Position operates during regular business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel - Little travel is expected for this position.
